Avoid the headline-spec trap
A retailer may advertise a modern processor while pairing it with a dim display, limited memory, or a small battery. Those compromises affect every hour of use. Compare the exact processor suffix, memory configuration, storage size, screen brightness, and port selection together.
Memory can decide longevity
Eight gigabytes can handle light work but leaves less room for years of software growth and heavy browser use. If memory is soldered, buy enough at checkout because it cannot be expanded later. Storage is often easier to upgrade, although thin models increasingly solder or restrict that too.
Price the right configuration
Laptop families reuse nearly identical names across very different configurations. Record the full model number before comparing stores. A seemingly lower price may refer to a weaker screen or processor, and list prices are often inflated shortly before promotions.
